Why am I starting a blog? There are literally millions of blogs out there, millions of posts being written every day. What’s one more voice in a world full of clamoring voices? Everyone seems to have an opinion these days, full of passion and emotion. I’m just a girl trying to follow her Lord as best I can, nothing amazing; why would someone want to listen to me?
My voice truly doesn’t matter all that much. But God’s voice does. There is a scarcity of truth in our world, along with a scarcity of obedience. I don’t claim to know all truth or to obey perfectly, mind you. But I have been called by God to proclaim His word, make disciples, and teach others to obey everything that He has commanded. This is one avenue I can use to do that.
My hope and prayer is that this blog will be an encouragement for women to pursue Jesus, to fix their eyes on Him, and by doing so, that they might be a pure radiance in this dark world. I don’t intend to shy away from truth, even the hard truth or topics we don’t like to talk about, because freedom is found in the light. So, yes, even things like sex and purity and unplanned pregnancy and abortion, I’m willing to go there. I’ll be learning right along with you, sharing what God is teaching me.
As a woman, I believe that I’m primarily called to disciple women, so that’s why this is addressed to women. Because I’m single and not yet a mother (at least in the traditional sense), single young women are my primary audience; I don’t feel equipped to speak to women in areas that I have never walked through. However, life and faith transcend seasons, so I pray that this blog will bless and encourage women in many seasons of life.
I will confess, I also have some personal reasons for starting this blog. I process best through writing, and I’m guessing that I’m not alone in the thoughts and questions that I’m working through. I’d like to invite you to join me on the journey, and we can learn together. I’ve learned that growth rarely happens in isolation, so I’m expanding my community to include all of you.
This blog will also be a way for me to be intentional and stay accountable. I can’t very well write about something without God using it in my own life! Even in the posts that I’ve written in preparation to launch this blog, God is reminding me of His faithfulness. He’s convicting me in areas I need more growth in. He’s growing love and compassion in me. He’s stirring up gratefulness as I count my blessings.
There is something powerful about the written word. About publicly testifying to His goodness. About writing out a lesson that He’s given me. About sharing His love and His way with others. I’m excited for this new journey! I’ve prayed about ministry to women since I was a young teen, and gotten to do various forms of ministry to women over the years, but this is a new avenue and one that I hope God will use for His glory.
I’m bursting with ideas of what to share; I actually have a document full of blog titles and ideas (yup, I’m a total Type A), and I’m also hoping to hear from you what topics you would like to have covered. Some of my initial ideas are:
- Family Relationships: honoring parents, serving siblings, building closer relationships.
- Mission and Ministry: why it matters, ideas and suggestions, personal testimonies.
- Relationship With God: encouragement, practical help, growing together.
- Singleness and Relationships: addressing real questions, encouragement, advice.
- Radiant Purity and Sex: why it matters, what it looks like, God’s desire for this area of our lives.
- Unplanned Pregnancy and Abortion: why it matters, how to help, letters to women facing them.
- Community and Business: friendships, careers, businesses, shining for Jesus in all of it.
If it helps even one person, it’s worth it. If it makes me more like Jesus, it’s worth it. Join me as we pursue Jesus together!
