My prayer this evening. Lord, may it be ever true of each of us. Search us, O God, and know our heart. Change us. Let us daily choose complete surrender.
Surrender. Completely. Moment by moment. I don’t want to live for me. I am dead to the flesh, alive to the Spirit. I surrender all.
Surrender. Open hands. All my dreams. All my plans. Surrendered. I choose Your will, Lord, not mine. I make my petitions, but Your will be done.
Surrender. My timeline. My goals. My way. I choose Your timeline, Your goals, Your way. I will wait on you. Come what may.
Surrender. My will. My desires. Let me want only you. Change my desires, Lord, let me delight only in You. I want to crave what you crave, long for what you long for, desire what you desire.
Surrender. A living sacrifice. I am dead to sin, alive to Christ. This life I live, I live for You. Willing to fall to the ground and die, be buried that life might come from it.
Surrender. Of recognition, fame, success. You get all the glory, Lord. I’m willing to be hidden, misunderstood, unknown, rejected, denied, for Your sake.
Surrender. The dreams I hold most dear, dreams of a husband and children. For You to give or take away as You see fit, or never to give at all. Your will, not mine.
Surrender. My home. Where you will call me to in this world, I do not know. I surrender comfort, pleasure, desires. Where you want me is where I want to be.
Surrender. An easy life. It isn’t what you’ve called me to. I choose to struggle through to victory, to depend hard on you, to fix my eyes on you and keep going when everything in me wants to quit.
Surrender. Of visible fruit. You’ve called me to serve, to minister to Your children, to share Your love, but I surrender my desire to see results in my lifetime. You alone need to know.
Surrender. When and how my life will end. Be willing for martyrdom. Be willing for heartbreak. Be willing for a long life nothing like I envision it. Be willing for pain. And for joy.
Surrender. Those I love. I choose You first. I surrender my dependence on people, my need for people, my love for people. You come first. Your will comes first.
Surrender. Health. My “right” to liberty, to good health, to freedom from pain and disease and sickness. Whatever God sends, He will give the grace to receive.
Surrender. Of fear, anger, bitterness, hate, selfishness, insecurity, all the temptations of the flesh. Because in you I am more than a conqueror. Sin and death have no power over You, over me.
Surrender. Because you are enough. I need nothing more. In my self, I am weak, needy, sinful. In you, I am strong, fulfilled, empowered.
Surrender. Now I seek no other, for where else could I go? You have the words of eternal life. I utterly reject any idol that would set itself up in my life. You are my God, my King, my All.
